PRP Injections
Platelet-rich plasma derives from your own blood, which minimizes allergic and immunogenic reactions. Research indicates a low incidence of adverse events, mainly transient swelling or bruising.
Evidence supports PRP effectiveness for knee osteoarthritis, lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow), and rotator cuff tears with sustained positive results at two-year follow-up. All injections are performed under ultrasound or fluoroscopy guidance.
Patients provide a small blood sample, which a centrifuge processes to concentrate platelets. The concentrated platelets are then injected into the affected area to trigger healing factors and tissue repair.
After Your Procedure
Patients may experience increased pain or soreness for several days following the injection, which is a normal and expected part of the healing process.
The procedure intentionally triggers a short-term inflammatory response, which helps release growth factors and stimulate tissue repair. Ice and rest are recommended during this initial phase.
Most patients notice gradual improvement over the following weeks as the body's natural healing process takes effect. Your physician will schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your progress.
